Eight Global Trends to Watch that Will Impact the Land Market – Week 6

Trade War Data:

The media hates Trump. Therefore, what is reported in the media is typically slanted making it important to look at the facts about the trade war with China.

Currently the United States imports $300B in goods from China and exports $100B of goods to China per year. This is a significant number even though it is not huge compared to a $20T American economy. It is important to realize that we have similar sized trade relationships with each of Mexico and Canada.

If Congress were really interested in helping Americans, the House of Representatives controlled by the Democrats would take up the new treaty that replaces NAFTA. Pass that treaty and the result would overwhelm any dislocation relative to the trade war with China. Apparently the politics of power is more important than Americans to Democrats.

There is a strong correlation between our economy and land values.
