The Beginning of A Change?
In late August Beijing announced that they were going to hold their first meeting of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee in October 2019. No specific date in October was stated. The last such meeting was the event where Xi was installed as the de facto dictator for life of China.
China is facing a number of problems, including the trade war with the United States, the months of unrest in Hong Kong, bank failures, and an economy that is probably collapsing. The lack of a date in October probably reflects the politicking that is happening behind the scene.
The normal retirement program for dictators tends to be a bullet. It will be interesting to watch what happens in October at this meeting of the Central Committee. It is not an exaggeration to say that this could be the single most significant economic event in the global economy in 2019.
